Moroccan company Ciments de l’Afrique will build a factory for cement
production in
Guinea-Bissau, the Prime Minister’s office said Tuesday
in Bissau.
The statement issued by the office of Domingos Simões Pereira also
said that the
Prime Minister was informed of the intention during an
audience granted to a delegation
from the Moroccan company.
The head of the delegation and managing director of the company, Saad
Sefrioui told the
Guinean Prime Minister that the factory would start
production of cement within 14 months,
and an agreement outlining these
details was signed just hours before a meeting with the
Minister of
Economy and Finance.
The signed agreement includes construction of social housing,
although Sefrioui did not
specify how many houses would be built, but
said it was “small” and he also gave no
figure for investment in the
cement plant.
During a recent visit by the King of Morocco to Guinea-Bissau the
authorities of the two
countries signed 16 cooperation agreements in
sectors as diverse as security, foreign affairs,
fisheries, agriculture,
energy and social protection. (macauhub/GW)
